So Christmas is right around the corner, so this article is a few tips for taking Christmas photos.
It’s such a wonderful time of year and a perfect time to take some magical Christmas photos!
With all of the magical Christmas decorations going up, your whole house becomes a Christmas backdrop! See how creative you can get with the decorations.
I’m always looking for creative light sources, and Christmas lights are no exception! See what you can do with Christmas lights.
Shooting in Low Light
A lot of these kinds of photos will be shot in very low light. If you haven’t already, check out my article ‘How to Take Photos in Extremely Low Light’, this will help you in shooting these low light Christmas photos.
Shooting in the Snow
Depending on where you are in the world, you might get to shoot in the snow. I love snow photos, unfortunately we don’t get very much snow where I live, so I have to compromise.
If there is no snow, but it is overcast, you can do a pretty convincing snow edit by adding an infrared filter in photoshop. And if you need falling snow, you can use my ‘Magical Snow’ overlays, they are simple to use.
Check out my ‘Watch Me Edit: Let it Snow’ editing class to see my entire editing process for these kinds of edits.
I hope those tips were helpful to you! I would love to see your Christmas photos in the comments below!
Have a very Marry Christmas!
